Welcome to the Heartland Border Walk for MSTM
Join us in Olathe, Kansas on June 3, 4, 5th for the Third Annual Heartland Border Walk for Multiple SclerosisTM. This will be the journey of your lifetime and a weekend you'll never forget!

Our 100% guarantee is that the Heartland Border Walk for MSTM will make for a very physical, uplifting, and memorable weekend. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll make new friends that will last forever. Most of all, you'll make a difference in your life as well as someone else's.

The third annual Heartland Border Walk for MS will support those who live with multiple sclerosis -- raising funds (minimum of $750) to fight MS, increase public awareness and promote health and fitness. As one of our walkers or volunteers, you will make a life-changing journey and help bring us closer to a cure! The MidAmerica Neuroscience Research Foundation along with the Board of Directors for the Heartland Border WalkTM will write grants for research, as well as some social programs to help those affected by MS in the Greater Kansas City area.

When you walk with us, we'll support you every step of the way -- before, during and after the Border Walk. Your body will ache, your feet will hurt and you will be hot and tired. Just when you think you won't be able to take another step, someone will say "thank you." It might be a fellow walker who has MS, a volunteer, or someone along the route who has a family member with MS. You will feel instantly recharged and know that you can make it! Thank You
Thank you to all who made the second annual Heartland Border Walk for MSTM a huge success. It would not have been possible without our walkers, volunteers and sponsors. The steps we took in 2010 will ensure future steps for those living with MS, the 50 walkers raised over $74,000 in 2010 to prove this year's event was a huge success.

Several thousand people and families live with MS in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. The funds raised will be used to help fight MS by funding research as well as patient assistant programs.

Walkers and volunteers made the annual walk a huge success by showing that a small group of dedicated people can make a difference in many lives by taking one step at a time. The Hope in our Hearts will carry us through to next year, when we continue our journey towards THE CURE!

We look forward to seeing you in 2011!! Register Today for June 3, 4, 5, 2011 and join us for the Third Annual Heartland Border Walk for MSTM

About MS
MS is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS consists of the brain, spinal cord, and the optic nerves. Surrounding and protecting the nerve fibers of the CNS is a fatty tissue called myelin, which helps nerve fibers conduct electrical impulses.

In MS, myelin is lost in multiple areas, leaving scar tissue called sclerosis. These damaged areas are also known as plaques or lesions. Sometimes the nerve fiber itself is damaged or broken.

Build a Team
A Border Walk Team consists of four or more members who are taking the Heartland Border Walk journey together. Team members support each other in their fundraising and training and build lasting memories by sharing this incredible experience. Participating, as part of a team is a great way to enhance what is already an incredibly meaningful experience. With the support of your team, training and fundraising are actually easier. Together, as a team, you are a force even greater than what you can accomplish alone. A team multiplies the fun, laughter, and tears you share along the way, and multiplies your impact on the fight against multiple sclerosis. At the bottom of this page you'll find tips on team building, team training and team fundraising.
